I finally got to try out my new mini soil tiller. I got about half of the area in front of the house ’tilled’ and the battery was getting low, so I stopped and am recharging now. I’ll try again later in the week. I was able to spread out the composted top soil that was laying on top of the garden cloth I pulled up, and I’m adding in store-bought top soil as I go also. It should be nice.
I transplanted 12 yellow fawn lily tubers here and there in the area. Looking forward to that.

I also transplanted three oriental lilies in among the azaleas. I have a red, a white and an unknown bunch. I bought them on sale at Home Depot for $1.00 each - can’t go wrong. I already have Easter lilies, and I moved some other lilies in there, so hopefully they’ll all make it and produce. I transplanted the stargazer lilies that made such beautiful cut flowers when they were rained on so badly. I moved some over but kept them in the same area. I separated off two chunks and planted one nearer the arbor, and I put the other in the center island. I’m expecting stuff from White Flower Farm, and from two other places, so I’ll be a planting wizard when they arrive. I hope it’s soon b/c we’re getting fall early this year - at least so it seems right now.
I saw 2 coyotes in the field today. Cocoa was barking a lot - not just at them, as she didn’t even seem to see them until I spotted them. We also have turkey hunters in the farm next door (Sheehan property). That’s happened every year we’ve been here. They’re pretty good about staying off my property - partly b/c there are fences all along the area nearer the river. That’s where all the woods are. I didn’t see that many turkey this year, so I’m wondering how long they’ll be hunting here before they run out of them. I saw turkey feathers in a spot - obviously coyote lunch at some point - when I went down to talk with the archeologists. Between the coyote den and the hunters, we’ll have none
left.
